John Moorer was born in Harlem, NY and raised on the Upper West Side. He spent his teenage years commuting between New York City and the suburbs of Long Island (where he swears gangsters mow their lawns on weekends).

His art is infused with the eclectic mixture of New York’s energy, his own philosophical search for truth with a hint of motivational music and comic books. Inspired by artists including Jim Lee, Greg Capullo, and Steven Cronin, John’s art is watercolor based—incorporating comic book style inking—while using household items, crafting materials, and common office supplies to create unique textures. John’s artwork is illustrating the running dialogue that occurs every day between the Past, Present, and "Almost but Not Yet" with engaging details that pull the viewer into the conversation.

His most recent exhibition, On the Backs of Us is currently on display in Hofstra University’s Axinn Library.
